Discover the truly unspoiled heart of Africa. Congo-Brazzaville and its wild treasures and urban jungles are the definition of the “unbeaten track”. Transcend into unknown lands and leave absolutely mesmerized.

Let’s first make one thing clear: there are two Congos in Africa – the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.R.C.) and the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville), which we invite you to discover. This small country in Central Africa is often overlooked, although it boasts a cultural richness and an untouched natural wonderland like few other.

You journey of the senses starts in Brazzaville, a colourful melting pot of authenticity. Explore the markets, visit the turquoise-tiled Basilique Sainte-Anne and admire the fashion excesses of the “Congo Sapeurs”. In the north of the country awaits one of the wildest areas in Africa and the contrast between Brazzaville and this natural wonderland couldn’t be greater. Odzala-Kokoua National Park is a hidden gem, characterized by lush rainforests and vast open swamps called bais. Although the park is humongous, there are only a handful of accommodation options and the sole purpose of tourism is to conserve the biodiversity and leave it as untouched as it is.

We’ve partnered with African Parks and Odzala Discovery Camps – the only organizations and operators in the park: along with our guests we are therefore able to directly contribute to their conservation efforts. One of the journey highlights with Odzala Discovery is the lowland gorilla trekking, but the whole experience is one of a kind with its raw natural beauty, diverse landscapes and unique species like the forest elephants, buffalos, hyenas and a myriad of birds. Look forward to an unforgettable adventure in Congo-Brazzaville.

Passport & Visas

All visitors require a visa, no matter from which country they come from. This needs to be obtained from the nearest Congolese embassy/consulate before you travel. The processing of the visa will take three days, please check the requirements with the Congolese embassy/consulate in your home country or near you (passport needs to be valid for six months, sufficient blank visa pages, application form, 'letter of invitation' etc.)

Currency & Payment

The currency of the Republic of the Congo is the Communauté Financière Africaine Franc (XAF), or otherwise known as the CFA francs. Due to the infrastructure and remote locations, we highly recommend to do money exchanges prior to travel. We do not recommend travellers cheques. Euro is the preferred foreign currency and we recommend using Euro cash for all payments. Our partner Odzala Discovery Camps accept Euro and US Dollars in their camps. The acceptance of credit cards is also limited.

Health & Vaccinations

A yellow fever vaccination is compulsory when entering the Republic of the Congo, it takes 10 days for the shot to be effective. Last minute vaccinations may result in refused entry. You will need an internationally recognised Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate as proof. Please consult your doctor regarding anti-malarial drugs, because the dominant type of malaria in the Congo is resistant to the most common drug as well as regarding other vaccinations that are recommended (including typhoid fever, hepatitis A and B, meningitis and more).
