OVERVIEW
Akagera in Rwanda will be your first destination. This beautiful, lush and mountainous area is a true safari oasis. Here you will find the Big Five – the only park in Rwanda, where you can find elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards and buffalo – roaming through open grassland, thick bush and river beds. Akagera is a small miracle and a prime example of a conservation success story. During the war in Rwanda the park almost disappeared along with it iconic species like lion and rhino. Now they have been and still are being reintroduced and help Rwanda put itself on the map, not just as a progressive, modern country, but also as a top notch safari destination.
After learning so much about the importance of conservation, you head east – flying over the majestic Lake Victoria – to one of the most famous protected wildlife areas in the world, the Serengeti. The land of the Maasai is home to the characteristic vast grass plains and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world. The Great Migration – almost a million wildebeest, zebra and other antelope constantly in search of the best food sources -roam the Serengeti and Masai Mara in their annual cycle. Should you not witness this spectacle, there will still be plenty to see; from the vast savanna to magical sunsets and a plethora of wildlife.
